Quite expectedly, Samsung Galaxy Gear VR should not be as stunning as most would want it to be. But right now, you could be in for a pleasant surprise. Not only is the device worth looking into, it has shown it could certainly bring in the next wave of the future. Even in its beta form.
What makes this newest iteration of Samsung Gear VR for the Galaxy S6 stand out is the promise of long play. Where its immediate precedent, the Note 4 version of the Gear VR has been struggling with overheating issues, the S6 version seemed to have overcome the issue with flying colors.
Thanks to a timely internal fan, it is now very much possible to engage yourself into the VR gaming for about an hour. If you want to extend this game time closer to forever you can do so by aiming an external fan right at your head. Cool!
Added to this, a power port has been added to this new VR headset shielding consumers from the most hated prospect of being drained. However, take heed should you be planning to make the most of this power port, you can do so using the Samsung-made cable - though you would certainly cry foul for the cord is not very long.
The way to go about this is to deploy a portable charger , one that could sit on your lap or be hidden from view in your pocket. Utilizing a wall outlet could be out of the question as it will severely limit your mobility.
You won't be able to enjoy VR without the appropriate apps to play upon, that's for sure. In this regard, a slew of VR content found in the Gear's Oculus Store should come in handy. One example: Viral.
But Oculus wants to load up on these VR games even more - most especially with the probable coming of the Oculus Rift for consumers by Q1 of 2016. In an unprecedented but timely move the company started by Palmer Luckey sponsored a Mobile VR Jam, awarding deserving developers over $1 million in prizes. So from that contest came a flurry of new VR games with SteamCrew VR besting every game in town.
You can avail of the build links from the VR Jam. All you have to do to get started is to visiting the post here.
Lest we forget, this current Oculus VR for Galaxy S6 is not meant for consumers. No, sir. At least not yet. As all current VR platforms are still in beta - this one including.
With all these developments, it seems the Samsung Galaxy Gear VR for the S6 is climbing greater heights.
