Mass Effect 1 looks and works better on the Xbox One than the Xbox 360, plus Mass Effect Andromeda details

By

One of Microsoft's biggest announcements at E3 was the news that it was now supporting backwards compatibility for some Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One, and it appears as though that feature is really going to work wonders for the original Mass Effect game.

Xbox One owners who are fortunate enough to be part of the Preview Program got a chance to look at just how different the game is on its new home, and the results appear to be significant.

According to Kotaku, some of the most noticeable improvements include load times being decreased across the board, controls are now more intuitive, and even cutscene duration has been made more efficient. Other elements such as texture pop-ins, screen stuttering, and even character lighting have also been said to be improved on the Xbox One.

The results are clearly promising, and they bode well for other games that may soon find themselves also being on the receiving end of the backwards compatibility treatment.

Fans should be careful about what Xbox 360 games they should be expecting to come to the Xbox One though.

According to GameZone, not all Xbox 360 titles are going to be made backwards compatible. Microsoft will be responsible for selecting which older games get a chance at a second life, though they have said they will also be taking input from fans to make their decisions.

In related news, while Mass Effect fans are overjoyed at the chance to relive their old favorites all over again, they are even more excited for the arrival of Mass Effect: Andromeda.

Not much is currently known about the game, which was revealed at E3, but that certainly hasn't dampened the excitement of fans, according to PC Gamer.

The wait will be quite long for Mass Effect: Andromeda, as it is not due out until the holiday season of 2016, but it's a wait fans will surely endure for what promises to be another spectacular game.
