The TV version of Neil Gaiman's popular novel "American Gods" began developing as Starz announces that the network has picked up the show. Reports claim that the series premiere is expected to drop on 2016 as the search for the cast members begins.
Previously, HBO announced that they are developing a project based on Gaiman's acclaimed book. That did not pan out though, placing the adaptation in television limbo. Good thing, cable channel Starz revealed that they have given the small screen version a go signal.
The Guardian reports that Neil Gaiman is confident about Starz's plan for his "baby."
"I am thrilled, scared, delighted, nervous and a ball of glorious anticipation," said Gaiman. "The team that is going to bring the world of American Gods to the screen has been assembled like the master criminals in a caper movie."
Casting process for Shadow Moon has already begun. In July last year, "Hannibal" showrunner Bryan Fuller was tapped to sit on the director chair while Michael Green was chosen to write the series' script.
The much awaited "American Gods" TV series is set to start production this year for a 2016 premiere, according to Rotten Tomatoes.
Just recently, a series concept art was posted by Bryan Fuller via his Twitter account to tease all the fans that have been waiting for the television series' fruition. Neil Gaiman backs him up by giving his approval, as per Slash Film's report.
"American Gods" follows the life of Shadow Moon after his release from the prison. It centers on the war between the traditional gods of biblical and mythological roots from around the world. Moon will be offered a job by Mr. Wednesday who is one of the older gods preparing for the battle with the modern deities.
"American Gods" is now well underway as Starz begins its search for the fantasy series' cast members. Fans of Neil Gaiman's book that have been waiting for the television adaptation can expect the pilot to drop on 2016 with Bryan Fuller as the helmer.
