'The Following' Season 4 renewal is still up in the air. No network has signified any intention of picking it. Most of the show's fans agree that with all the cliffhangers and unanswered questions left behind, the ending was nothing short of a disappointment.
Due to the sudden cancellation, many plot twists remained undiscovered and even more questions were left unanswered.
As far as story is concerned, Entertainment Focus listed some reasons why should 'The Following' Season 4 be renewed. These include: Ryan's pursuit of Eliza; Ryan and Joe's relationship; Theo's fate (alive or dead); Max and Mike to discover that Ryan is alive; Claire's comeback; Max and Mike future being together; Gina Mendez' return to FBI; More FBI moles; and, Ryan and Gwen's happy ending.
These are the things that 'The Following' Season 3 finale had failed to answer and supposed to be answered by the next season. However, Fox is not too forgiving for this show.
According to TVLine, low ratings were to blame for the show's cancellation. Although the thriller series started off strong with more than 10 million viewers - which remained consistent during Season 1- the numbers steadily declined during the second and third seasons, dropping down to 3 million viewers per episode, making the show the lowest-rated Monday night television show.
What disappoints people the most is that there were lots of plans for Season 4 of 'The Following'. A report from Inquistr indicated that the showrunners are planning on getting a reboot, big changes or a new direction for the show. But due to cancellation, they remain undiscovered.
There has been speculation that season 4 might get picked up by Hulu, but it was eventually reported that the network dropped the show's proposal. Now, the show is rumored to be courting Netflix. But the network remains quite up to this day.
Fans, are you still hopeful for the show's comeback? Do you Netflix will grant 'The Following' Season 4 renewal?
