Katniss' fight against President Snow's iron-fisted rule over Panem is finally coming to an end when "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" concludes the franchise this November 20. To hype up the long-wait for the grand finale, Lionsgate has released a new minimalist #Unite teaser posters featuring the iconic '3-Finger salute' in some popular landmarks all over the globe.
While the film's first trailer have featured the Mockingjay's huge effort to fight for freedom and justice, its newly unveiled poster is making a bigger movement, encouraging citizens to unite in the iconic three-finger salute that is known for Katniss. As per Latino Post's report, the 'Unite' posters for the forthcoming film have a District 13 logo next to the iconic hand sign. The salute is noted to be an old gesture in District 12 which according to Katniss in the film, means thanks, admiration, or good-bye to someone you love.
The posters were placed in some of the world's high-profile locations which include Times Square in New York, Westfield Centre in London, Colonne di San Lorenzo in Milan, and Novy Arbat Avenue in Moscow. According to First Showing, the hands used for the worldwide promotion were created from six people of different ages, genders, and nationalities.
"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -Part2" is helmed by Francis Lawrence based on the script written by Peter Craig and Danny Strong. The film stars Academy Award-winner Jennifer Lawrence ("Silver Linings", "American Hustle"), Woody Harrelson ("Zombieland", "True Detective"), Elizabeth Banks ("Pitch Perfect") , Philip Seymour Hoffman ("The Master", "A Most Wanted Man"), Jeffrey Wright ("Casino Royale", "Cadillac Records"), Willow Shields, Sam Claflin ("Love Rosie", "Snow White and the Huntsman"), Jena Malone ("Sucker Punch") with Stanley Tucci "The Lovely Bones", "Transformers: Age of Extinction") and Donald Sutherland reprising their original roles from "The Hunger Games" and "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire". The lineup is joined by The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 co-stars Academy Award-winner Julianne Moore ("Still Alice", "Seventh Son"), Mahershala Ali ("Predators", "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"), Natalie Dormer ("Game of Thrones") , Wes Chatham ("The Help", "The Philly Kid"), Elden Henson ("Daredevil") and Evan Ross.
As per Coming Soon's synopsis, the film follows the nation of Panem which is in the midst of a full-scale war. Katniss (Lawrence), also known as the Mockingjay, challenges President Snow(Sutherland), ruler of Panem, for a final showdown. She then goes off on mission with District 13 unit including Gale (Hemsworth), Finnick (Claflin), and Peeta (Hutcherson) to stage an assassination attempt on President Snow.
"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" is slated to hit theaters in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on November 20.
