'The Returned' Update: A&E Does Not Renew Show For Season 2, Netflix Will Take Over And Continue The Story

By

"The Returned" just finished its first season but A&E decided not to renew it for season 2 as the show failed to draw a large number of audiences. However, there might be a new home for the show as Netflix might just continue and take over the story.

In a report by Examiner, fans of "The Returned" should not at all be dismayed as there is still hope that the United States counterpart of the French show could still be continued. The supernatural series that was based from France's "Les Revenants" launched just this year specifically on March 9 and it initially had 1.5 million viewers. However, the show's audiences continued to decline as it only had 945,000 viewers during the last episode "The Returned" season 1.

"The Returned" aired only ten episodes during season 1 and the Carlton Cuse-created show is about the story of a town called Caldwell wherein people who have already did reappear and they are unharmed. The show is led by a character named Peter, played by actor Jeremy Sisto, and "The Returned" Season 1 ended with a major cliffhanger after Peter went back to the town but it has already been destroyed.

Although the U.S. version has been axed, the French version will still be continuing with its second season so fans of the show could still follow and watch "Les Revenants" as the two shows have the same concept and plot, Cinema Blend reported.

In a recent report, Netflix already had a deal with FremantleMedia International regarding the launch of "The Returned" as a Netflix original. However, there has been no announcement regarding this yet. If and when the streaming network will pick up the show, there is already a possible plot for the second season of "The Returned" since season 1 left a lot of unanswered questions.

The cancellation of the show was confirmed on June 15 and Netflix is yet to confirm the reports about the show being revived.
