Street Fighter V may be slightly different from how fans remember it, with the new entry into the iconic fighting game franchise set to introduce new mechanics to its combat system.
According to iDigital Times Australia, the new combat system will now include elements such as V-skills, V-reversals, and V-triggers. Each of the new gameplay elements are character-specific, meaning the V-skills of Ryu are going to be different from the V-skills of Sagat or any other character.
V-skills are typically projectile attacks, though they can of course be different. Characters such as Ryu and M.Bison have projectile V-skills.
V-reversals, as the name suggests, are counterattacks meant to be used to parry or stop the opponent's offense.
V-triggers are a bit different since they are not exactly forms of attacks and are instead just combat elements that usually increase the attack power of the character being used.
Interestingly enough, there is more variation with the V-trigger, as some characters have what is called as the V-meter. According to The Next Digit, both M.Bison and Nash have a V-meter in place of the V-trigger, and instead of increasing their attack powers, they instead enable the characters to teleport.
While the developers of Street Fighter V are obviously eager to tout the new combat system tweaks, elements such as EX Special Moves and Super Moves are still part of the game, so the whole experience will not be entirely foreign.
In related news, fans who simply cannot wait to get their hands on Street Fighter V will be glad to know its beta version will be available beginning July 23, according to The Verge.
The beta version of Street Fighter V will be available only to customers who have already pre-ordered the game for the Playstation 4.
As for the rest, Street Fighter V will be released on the Playstation 4 and PC by March of 2016.
