FX's Tyrant Season 2 premiered last June 16 and while the rating of the first episode is not bad, oes not reassure either the survival or renewal of the series for a third season. Meanwhile, executive producer Howard Gordon dishes out on the survival of Barry Al-Fayee, portrayed by Adam Rayner, Molly Al-Fayeed, portrayed by Jennifer Finnigan and Jamal Al-Fayeed, portrayed by Ashraf Barhom.
Tyrant Season 2 Episode 1 continues four months after the event in Season 1 finale. So what exactly will happen to Barry in this new season?
In an interview with Gordon, the showrunner shared what is in store for Barry in Tyrant Season 2.
"The turning point for me was finding an organic way to credibly put Barry in this place without making it look so foreboding that he'd be foolish. We did it as gracefully - clumsily though it may have appeared - as we could. But once Barry actually has his sea legs and realizes, 'I can't help my brother.
He is too broken'' to the time he killed the sheik and begins to insinuate himself not only into the palace, but into usurping his brother - that's where the story kind of found its own momentum. It became easier and more fun to write, and that's continued to be the feeling in season two."
The showrunner also added that Tyrant season 2 will be deeper.
"I think this year, by telling the story we're telling, we really get a deeper and more multifaceted exploration of this fictional country we've created - its problems and its beauty," Gordon said.
Although, Tyrant has been renewed for a second season, the only reason for the renewal of the show is definitely not because of its rating but due to people from FX who want to give the show a chance to show its greatest potential.
But will Tyrant step up with its game? The first episode of Tyrant season 2 only has 0.30 rating in 18 to 49 demographic with 1.063 million viewers. It's not really a good way to start a season, is it?
Fans should just hope that the following episodes would fare better than the first one. Tyrant Season 2 airs in FX every Tuesday at 10PM.
