During E3 2015, Ubisoft announced that Tom Clancy's The Division will finally be set for release this 2016. The Division was originally unveiled back at E3 2013 along with its mobile companion app. The mobile app was cancelled because it would negatively affect the players' experience.
After its unveiling back in 2013 and a 2 year delay, the release date of Tom Clancy's The Division is finally set for this coming March 8, 2016. Christian Today reports that Ubisoft presented a gameplay video in E3 2015 which showed the different gameplay elements as well as the cooperative and competitive nature of The Division.
In the video, a group of three forms a temporary alliance with two random strangers they come across. As a bigger group, they eliminated some opponents, took the supplies, and headed to the extraction point. However, after calling in for a chopper, the original three turn rogue and start firing at the two they formed an alliance with. Before the shoot-out is over, one of the original three then turns against his own allies and kills them as well, taking all of the loot for himself.
As for The Division's mobile app, it was cancelled because it would set some imbalance in gameplay and give players a very high advantage as reported by IGN. The app was supposed to allow players to be a drone that can fly through the battlefield.
These drones can now give buffs to players like increasing their armor and giving them a faster move speed etc. Because these drones are airborne, they can scout for enemies hiding in the map. This would definitely be unfair for those who do not have the mobile app and so Ubisoft cancelled it to give players a better experience.
Tom Clancy's The Division is a third person shooter RPG game developed by Ubisoft. It is currently undergoing beta testing and the game is scheduled for release this March 8, 2016 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC
