It was finally confirmed that PS1 Classic Final Fantasy VII for next gen consoles is going to be more than just a re-master as Final Fantasy 7 executive producer Shinji Hashimoto states that they will be creating a remake with new story pieces and maybe even add new game mechanics.
Gamers and the kids at heart became enthusiastic after hearing the news at E3 2015 that Final Fantasy VII will be making a comeback. IGN reports that the upcoming FF VII remake will be coming to the PlayStation 4 soon but with a new twist.
It seems that the classic is getting more than a visual upgrade because according to Shinji Hashimoto at an interview regarding Final Fantasy 7, Square Enix is looking at the original Final Fantasy VII to remove its flaws. This is due to the original game being ported other consoles and so another port will not have a selling point as stated by Tetsuya Nomura, Final Fantasy 7's producer. Another reason why they will be making a remake is because of the timing of making the remake.
Christian Today reports that no gameplay footage has been revealed yet but since FF7 is a turn based game, Square Enix may change that concept like Final Fantasy XII and XV which tried moving away from this system. Tetsuya Nomura explained: "The original version is a game that came out in 1997, and if you look at it today, you can feel how dated the graphics and the game system are... We haven't shown any gameplay yet, but since we're updating them quite a bit, please look forward to that." Because of this, we may end up kissing the turn based gameplay of Final Fantasy VII goodbye.
Aside from fixing the shape of the characters in the original and giving it a major visual upgrade, it is likely that Squre Enix will add a few more pieces to the story of the RPG Final Fantasy 7 in order to close some gaps in the story and expand the Final Fantasy Universe. Final Fantasy 7 will also feature two secret characters named Yuffie and Vincent.
