"The Perks of Being a Wallflower" actor Ezra Miller has made a giant leap from indie films to studio flicks when he landed the titular role in Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Comics adaptation of "The Flash". However, it seems like this shift in the film industry has something more in store for the actor as he is reportedly eyed to play another key role in J.K. Rowling's forthcoming "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them". The film is slated to hit the big screen in 3D and IMAX 3D on November, next year.
Following the big role in the DC Comics adaptation of "The Flash", Warner Bros. is now reportedly offering Ezra Miller another key role. This time, it will no longer be a superhero but more of a wizard character instead. Variety reports that the 22-year-old actor is already in early talks to play Kredan, a man with magical powers who encounters the main character, Newt Scamander, in the big screen adaptation of J.K. Rowling's "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them".
As previously reported, the upcoming movie is set 70 years prior to Harry Potter's arrival in Hogwarts. The title is adapted from a freshmen textbook which was featured in the first book of the "Harry Potter" series. Eddie Redmayne ("Jupiter Ascending", "Theory of Everything") actor is slated to play the role of the main character, Scamander.
Apart from Redmayne, Miller will be joining Katherine Waterson who according to Screen Crush was just previously cast as the witch, Tina (aka Propetina). Warner Bros.' is yet to announce who will be playing Jacob, Scamander's rival. Though it is rumored that Michael Cera ("Superbad", "Juno") and Josh Gad is meeting for the said part next week.
"Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them" is being produced by David Heyman, producer of all eight blockbuster Harry Potter features; J.K. Rowling; Steve Kloves, who penned seven of the Harry Potter films; and Lionel Wigram, who served as an executive producer on the last four installments of the franchise.
Warner Bros. Pictures has the first "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" scheduled for a worldwide release in 3D and IMAX on November 18, 2016.
