"American Crime" will be bringing back another actress from the first season of the show as it was announced that Lili Taylor will be coming back as a series regular for the upcoming seasons. John Ridley's ABC crime drama has been a new favorite show of fans as it tackles different crimes all over the United States.
"American Crime" season 2 will be having the actors Felicity Huffman, Timothy Hutton, Elvis Nolasca, Regina King and Richard Cabral, who were also part of the first season. Taylor is an additional original cast member who will be joining them for the show's second season, Deadline reported.
John Ridley said in an official statement regarding Taylor's return that they are beyond fortunate to welcome her back for the new cycle of the show as well as to have her as a series regular. Taylor was only a guest star in "American Crime" season 1 but she was able to "shine in every scene" she was involved in.
Taylor's role in "American Crime" season 1 was a mother who was forced to deal with the public tribulations of her child. Taylor was able to bring her character to the emotional complexity for viewers to relate to, Ridley added.
In a previous report, "American Crime" Season 2 will be dealing with gender, physicality, sexuality, and societal urgency in comparison to season 1's main focus, race and faith.
John Ridley, the "12 Years A Slave" screenwriter shared that the second season will be shot in the Midwest specifically in Austin, Texas and the general theme of the upcoming episodes are reportedly the subject matters that won't go away, he shared with The Wrap. The second season will be about an elite prep school and actress Regina King's character will be the focus of the story.
"American Crime" Season 2 will begin shooting this August and ABC is yet to announce when the series will start airing.
