From facing off against an earthquake, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is now saving humanity again from metropolitan-destroying giant monsters in the forthcoming live-action feature of "Rampage". The "San Andreas" actor is reportedly re-teaming with New Line's Beau Flynn for the film which is targeting a 2016 summer production start.
Following the success of his disaster film "San Andreas" which premiered last month, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is now set to star in a new sci-fi monster feature "Rampage" which is based on the classic 80's Midway Arcade Game of the same name. Though the rest of the details are still under the wraps, the game, as per the Verge's report, revolves around a giant werewolf, a giant gorilla, and a giant lizard that are trashing one city after another in North America.
According to Deadline, New Line is currently working to fill the open directorial duties for the film. "Rampage" will be based screenplay will be based on a script written "Non-stop" writer, Ryan Engle, and will be produced by Flynn via his FlynnPictureCo. banner alongside John Rickard via his Rickard Pictures. Seven Bucks Productions co-founders Johnson and Dany Garcia are also reportedly involved in a producing capacity.
Production for the movie is targeted to commence summer next year, right after Johnson finishes filming "Fast and Furious 8" where he plays the role of the Diplomatic Security Service agent, Luke Hobbs. The Hollywood Reporter reins the 43-year-old star as one of the high-profiled summer actors after starring in the recently released flicks, "Furious 7", "San Andreas", and "Ballers".
"Rampage" will be the fourth time Johnson and Flynn will work together after New Line sequel "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island", and Paramount and MGM's "Hercules".
Meanwhile, the Rock is currently repped by WME, Garcia Companies and Gang Tyre, while Engle is handled by Original Artists and Mosaic.
