Fans who have pre-ordered the Arkham Knight from any retailer get an instant access to free DLC which enables one to play the game as Harley Quinn, set at a time before the actual Arkham Knight.
With this free DLC, a player plays as Harley Quinn and the game starts in the garage of the Bludhaven Police Department where she is to take down seven policemen. Taking the policemen out seems like a tutorial wherein a player is taught of Harley's moves, weapons, and how she is controlled. She is equipped with a Jack-in-the-Box which functions as an explosive gel, a Laughing Gas which serves as a smoking pellet, a baseball bat for melee attacks, plus her acrobatic abilities serves as a counterpart to Batman's grappling hook and other escape tactics.
Furthermore, Harley may enter into Psychosis Mode which functions like Batman's Detective Vision. While activated, a player is able to see through walls, and, as the word itself tells, a player is immersed as one also sees insane writings on walls. Harley even talks to herself when such mode is activated long enough. Another special ability is the Mayhem Mode which enhances the damages caused by Harley's attacks, making it a brutal takedown. Twinfinite provides more information and tactics to finish the DLC.
As a player moves along, one would have to battle a few cops in every room, until Harley finally locates where the police is detaining Poison Ivy, waiting to be rescued. Before rescuing Ivy, Harley would again have to take down a bunch of policemen, and when one thinks that everything's done, Nightwing comes out and hinders Harley's plan which serves as a final boss fight. After defeating Nightwing, Harley then rescues Ivy in able to carry out the Scarecrow's plans.
However, such free access is only available to those who have pre-ordered the game, along with another free Red Hood DLC. The DLC runs only for less than 20 minutes and while gamers who have pre-ordered get it for free, a game review from Fansided commented that the free DLC itself is "extremely short and pretty awful" and tells fans that they would miss nothing if they have not pre-ordered. But the same site also commented that the Arkham Knight itself is worth buying and is something fans would enjoy even only after a few hours of playing.
The Harley Quinn DLC is only one of the extras one is to enjoy in a pre-order to the Arkham Knight whose season pass promises more access to other content drops in the few months to come. According to VG24/7, the game's PS4 version pretty receives positive reviews from reliable game review sites, having Videogamer, Polygon, God is a Geek, Ausgamers and SA Gamer to give it a perfect 10, contrary to others who reviewed the free Harley Quinn DLC.
The Arkham Knight was out in the market last June 23, 2015, playable in PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Buyers who chose to pre-order get an exclusive access to the free Harley Quinn DLC, and may still wait for more content drops in the coming months.
