Doom, Dishonored 2 Update: Bethesda to Resurrect Horror Title, Players Permanently Choose Between Corvo or Emily

By

Doom and Dishonored 2 are among the titles which a lot of gamers love most from Bethesda. Unfortunately, while the latter is having exciting changes in the gameplay as the story itself advances, the former, supposedly in its 4th installment had to be scrapped. Likened to being just a different version of Call of Duty, the horror title wasn't made to progress. In part, this will help the developer put their energies on current titles, while new ideas are being brought up to revamp Doom once again.

A thorough report on the new gameplay for Dishonored 2 is discussed in IGN. Harvey Smith and Raphael Colantonio from Arkane Studios had much to share to the news website during the recently concluded E3 2015. To be specific, it would be related to the use of characters in the game, where there will be a permanent decision at some point in the beginning.

The bosses of the developer company explain, "The way we're doing it this time is you play Emily for about 20 or 30 minutes at the beginning of the game, then there's this very dramatic moment where you can choose which one to continue with, either Emily or Corvo." Smith added, "Then for the rest of the game you're locked into that choice."

While the player will have to decide early on a certain path, the missions to tread will actually be the same. It is just that the user will carry on a different perspective, together with the commentaries of the chosen character.

On the other hand, Doom tries to be brought back to life during the E3 2015, after the fourth in the series had to be ended. Peter Hines from Bethesda had an interview with Polygon, where he explained the cancellation. He said, "We weren't happy with the game that was being made... We decided that it wasn't Doom enough and needed to be thrown out and started over."

As Bethesda scraps what would have been the fourth Doom, Dishonored 2 balances what the publisher has to offer to gamers, especially with the new gameplay reveals. The title is set 15 years later compared to the original release, so by that time, a lot has changed with Emily. Fans of the franchise should come back once in a while for new announcements.
