The fans of the superhero franchise "X-Men" have received another behind-the-scene update for its next installment "X-Men: Apocalypse". This time, it is not from the director, Bryan Singer, but from the film star, Olivia Munn. The actress has posted a video featuring her brand new sword skills in preparation for her role of Psylocke in the series' forthcoming installment which is slated to open May, next year.
Olivia Munn's take on the role of Psylocke in the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse" has been one of the most surprising castings the project has revealed. According to Cinema Blend, the last time the former "Attack of the Show" host-turned-actress had her name in the internet rumor mill was when it was confirmed that she is slated to wear purple hair in the next "X-Men" installment. Now, Munn has made it to the spotlight once again with her newly posted Instagram video.
As per Comic Book's report, the 34-year-old actress released a clip which features her arm flexibility while twirling a prop sword. Munn's newly learned tricks are in preparation for her challenging role in "X-Men: Apocalypse" wherein she will be playing the mutant superheroine, Psylocke.
Also known as Elizabeth Braddock, Psylocke is a mutant who is well-known for her telekinetic and telepathic abilities. Apart from her excellent fighting skills with the use of a sword/katana, she is also noted to be capable of manipulating psionic energy to create weapons like swords and knives.
According to Coming Soon, Michael Fassbender ("Macbeth"), James McAvoy ("Filth"), Jennifer Lawrence ("The Hunger Games"), and Nicholas Hoult ("Mad Max: Fury Road") are set to lead the cast of "X-Men: Apocalypse" as Magneto, Professor X, Mystique, and Beast, respectively. Joining them are returnees, Rose Byrne ("Neighbors") as Moira MacTaggert, Lucas Till ("Wolves") as Havok, Evan Peters ("The Lazarus Effect") as Quicksilver and newcomers Alexandra Shipp ("House of Annubis") as Storm, Sophie Turner ("Another Me") as Jean Grey, Ben Hardy ("EastEnders") as Angel, Tye Sheridan ("Mud") as Cyclops, and Lana Condor as Jubilee. Oscar Isaac will also star in the film as the titular antagonist.
The movie is said to be a conclusion of the trilogy which started with "X-Men: First Class" and followed by "X-Men: Days of Future Past". "X-Men: Apocalypse" is expected to hit the big screen on May 27, 2016.
