'Darksiders 2’ Update: Sample screenshots for the remastered edition released; Images reveal upgrades and improvements for Deathinitive Edition

Developer Nordic Games and studio Gunfire Games have followed up on last month's announcement of "Darksiders 2: The Deathinitive Edition" remaster for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with the release of a set of before-and-after screenshots showing off graphical tweaks and improvements for the game.

According to Game Informer, the released screenshots already show a noticeable difference from the quality of the graphics of the original game. The remastered edition reveals more defined character and detailed environment. There was a general increase in the overall lighting and contrast used in the game which aims to enhance the playability and visual asthetics for the players.

Gunfire Games Design Director John Pearl explains the graphical upgrades in the remastered edition of Darksiders 2. He said that "We wanted to run [the game] in native 1080p and increase the resolution of the textures."

The "Deathinitive Edition" of "Darksiders 2" will feature an overhauled, physically-based texture renderer, similar to what is being used in current-generation games. This means that different surfaces represented in the game, such as wood, metal, leather and skin will appear more realistic, and respond to in-game light as the actual material would in the real world.

PlayStation Lifestyle reports that aside from the visual upgrades, "Darksiders 2: The Deathinitive Edition" has a treat for its fans, as it collects all of the previously-released DLCs included and integrated into the game.
