Rock Band 4 Vs Guitar Hero Live: Harmonix Title Delivers Realistic Performance, Activision Game Features New Instrument Techniques; Pre-Orders Open

By

Making the Rock Band 4 vs Guitar Hero comparison would be considered very timely as Harmonix and Activision are bringing back the titles to life very soon. Gamers who are musically inclined would surely find this as good news. However, since there are two games on opposite sides, it would be necessary to take a look at how one would be better than the other in different aspects.

On the side of Harmonix's Rock Band 4, the Vice President of Product Development, Greg LoPiccolo has much to share. In terms of the gameplay, players could still experience the scope of classic band playing. Moreover, there will be a physical aspect to the game where the user can deliver more expression with the music. In this sense, it would be like there is really a live performance happening on stage.

This improvement in Rock Band 4 allows the game to go beyond simply matching the beat of whatever music is playing. Rather, the essence of performing to an audience is very much incorporated. Interestingly, LoPiccolo notes that singers can show their personal touch to the songs by coming up with original melodies that still match the tune.

The VP for Product Dev also adds, "For the drummer we have a system where the game will insert random fills that match the kind of tempo and style of the song, so that you can basically have the same experience as a real drummer where you're inserting these little improvised bits into the song but it all stays in sync and it always sounds good."

On the other hand, another games report suggests that Guitar Hero Live will become a fresh entry to the franchise and genre of music simulation. The developers of DJ Hero were noted to be the one taking charge. The title will feature a new layout for the buttons, so some adjustment would be expected at first. Nonetheless, the same skill of being able to accurately play the tune through the finger combos would apply.

The Rock Band 4 vs Guitar Hero fight will definitely lead to a tough choice on which one deserves to be bought for the devoted music lover and gamer. For the Harmonix title, pre-orders for the October launch are already open. The bundle with the game and the guitar costs $129.99 for Rock Band 4, which is higher than Guitar Hero Live, which is priced at $99.99.
