It has been a month since but for those of you that missed out, the remastered version of Halo 3: ODST was released last May 30, 2015 just a day after its placeholder date. This HD version of Halo 3: ODST is actually downloadable content for Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
If you were not one of the lucky ones who got it for free, the DLC is available at the Xbox Store. There was a post first seen on the Xbox website that said the release date of the game was May 29, 2015. It quickly spread around the internet but it was taken down afterwards. "343 Industries clarified that the date was only a "placeholder" and they did not announce when the game would be released. Halo fans were in for a surprise as the next day, May 30, 2015, the remastered Halo 3: ODST for Halo: The Master Chief Collection was now available for download on Xbox.com."
The HD version of Halo 3: ODST was 343 Industries' way to make up for the troubled release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Gamespot says that Halo: The Master Chief Collection had quite some trouble with Multiplayer matchmaking and so it was given away for free to those who bought it. The distributed codes for the game expired last June 30, 2015 but players can still redeem their free copy of Halo 3: ODST by contacting customer support.
The game lets you see the Halo Universe in the eyes of an Orbital Shock Trooper. Since you aren't as strong as Master Chief, you need to avoid conflict with the covenant as much as you can. IGN reports that Halo 3: ODST takes place mostly at night and you spend the game mostly alone. This gives players that "Lone Survivor" feel and it definitely goes well together with the music and free world. Add some stunning graphics and a masterpiece is created.
