‘Avatar 2’ Updates: James Cameron To Increase Frame Rate, Use Motion-Capture Technology, Feature Greater Story Arc; Sequel Premieres December 2017

The long wait for the highly anticipated sequel of the highest-grossing film of all time might be upsetting for now. However, the "Avatar" director, James Cameron, is making sure that the 8 years of waiting will be worth it, with its increased frame rate, the motion-capture technology that will be used for the movie's underwater scenes, and a greater story arc. The long-awaited sequel is slated to hit the big screen on Christmas Day in 2017.

To outdo the success of the 2009 record-breaking sci-fi film "Avatar", director James Cameron is making sure that its upcoming sequel will be more superior. According to Day Herald, the 60-year-old filmmaker is crafting the first part of the upcoming Trilogy grander in all aspects -technology and story-wise. And to do make this happen, he is reportedly increasing the frame rate of the next film that is more advanced than the common 24 frames per second. Cameron believes that this will extend the power and emotion the power and the emotion that touched the hearts of millions in "Avatar" to the upcoming sequels.

But that's not all; the filmmaker is also featuring the water ecosystems of Pandora which will be illustrated with the use of the motion-capture technology exclusively for this purpose. Realty Today notes that co-producer Jon Landau confirmed this. "WETA is working out underwater performance capture for underwater scenes," Landau said. "It's going to be like the Floating Mountains in the first movie. It's not going to be all underwater; it's going to be a place we go to, leave and come back to," he was quoted as saying.

Cameron is now challenged to making the upcoming sequels as effective and successful as its predecessor film. Despite this, he assured the fans that "Avatar 2" will not only highlight the advanced technology used but also feature a greater story arc. According to him, the forthcoming movies will still "continue to explore its themes and characters, which touched the hearts of audiences in all cultures around the world."

James Cameron's upcoming sequel is going to open in theaters on Christmas day in 2017, followed by "Avatar 3" and "Avatar 4" on the very same day in the succeeding two years.
