A few days after Marvel's head honcho, Kevin Feige, revealed that the upcoming "Spider-Man" reboot is going to feature a new villain, a new speculation has arose. The internet rumor mill suggests that the studio is introducing a new comic book villain named Kraven the Hunter will take on the wall-crawling superhero in the upcoming film which opens July 2017.
As previously reported, Marvel's Kevin Feige has revealed that the Big Bad in the upcoming reboot of "Spider-Man" may be someone the franchise's fans are not familiar at the moment. Now, there are rumors circulating that the studio is considering a new comic book villain named Kraven the Hunter to fight the superhero.
Kraven the Hunter, as per Marvel's description, is a "maniacal big game hunter" who aims to defeat the wall-crawling super to prove that he is the greatest hunter in the world. He is known to disdain typical hunting arms like guns and arrows, preferring to kill his prey with his bare hands. The villain is noted to have taken a mystical serum for him to have the hero's abilities but without it, he was still considered a threat to Spider-Man.
Daily Superhero's insider claims that Kraven is being considered for the upcoming film. The project is reportedly still in the early stages of development and that the discussions are happening "behind closed doors". According to the site, the studio eyes the villain because of his fresh character, having no appearance yet to any movies. Apart from that, Kraven has also the "skill set" to appear after a superhero civil war.
Kraven's live-action adaptation in the reboot of "Spider-Man" will be a modernized version compared to the comics. The source added that the said villain will be the young Peter Parker's first enemy, though more enemies may reportedly be introduced later on.
Marvel's "Spider-Man" reboot will be helmed by the Sundance director Jon Watts, and will star Tom Holland as the new Peter Parker. The highly-anticipated superhero flick is slated to hit the big screen July 28, 2017.
