‘Better Call Saul’ Season 2 to surprise viewers with "all sides" of Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman; Writer Gordon Smith drops hints

The upcoming 'Better Call Saul' Season 2 looks promising so far. After the success of season 1, the 'Breaking Bad' spinoff has been look up to with high regards. Writer Gordon Smith share some hints on what's to come for season two of the show.

'Better Call Saul', which first aired in February of this year, follows the life of Saul Goodman six years prior to the events featured in 'Breaking Bad' when he was still known as James Morgan "Jimmy" McGill. Season 1 provided a much needed backstory to the one-dimensional Goodman and while it is not difficult to imagine McGill turning into Saul, it was interesting to see where it all started, as noted by Enumerical News.

In a recent interview by the Emmys special magazine issue of The Wrap, actor Bob Odenkirk who plays McGill said that having the character feels like "a crazy bit of lottery winning."

Bob Odenkirk has gushed about how different it is playing the role of the same character years apart. "I like him (Jimmy) a lot more than I liked Saul Goodman. Now, I enjoyed playing Saul. It was fun, it was a hoot, but I didn't like the guy. He was a sleazy dude, and I don't like people like that."

But Odenkirk has revealed that portraying McGill in multiple levels is a great opportunity, "I played Saul Goodman, and he was like a persona that this person was putting forth and showing the world. He was intentionally one dimensional - he was a phony, a façade."

Meanwhile, writer Gordon Smith has shared some hints on what's to come for season two of the show.

Speaking to BreakingBad-Greek, Smith teased that there may be some surprises as viewers see the development of the characters and all sides of McGill and Saul.

"We talk all the time about what constitutes "Saul-ness"-is it the name? The suit? The persona? Or does it have to do with his willingness to commit certain kinds of crime? I hope we'll see more of all sides of the man, because I'm honestly not sure who Saul/ Jimmy/ Gene "really" is yet," Smith said.

AMC has yet to announce 'Better Call Saul' Season 2 premiere date, but it is slated to air early 2016.
