It looks like Marvel has finally found Benedict Cumberbatch's opposite for the upcoming live-action adaptation of "Doctor Strange"as "True Detective" star Rachel McAdams has been reportedly offered to play the main female role, Clea, in the movie. The big screen adaptation is scheduled to open in cinemas November next year.
Over the years, numerous leading ladies have been drawn to the Marvel Cinematic Universe -from Iron Man's Gwyneth Paltrow to Avengers' Scarlet Johansson, to Thor's Natalie Portman. If the rumors are true, it looks like another actress will be included on that list. Citing an unnamed source in Los Angeles, Heroic Hollywood reports that Rachel McAdams is currently in negotiation to play the main female role in the highly anticipated movie "Doctor Strange".
Though the role remains undisclosed, Cinema Blend predicts that the 36-year-old actress will portray the role of Clea. In the Marvel comics, the character is a sorceress and the disciple and love interest of Dr. Stephen Strange. She is known to be Umar's daughter and the demonic tyrant, Dormammu's neice. The live-action film is currently in pre-production and stage and is slated to start filming soon in London.
If official, McAdams will be joining Benedict Cumberbatch ("Sherlock", "The Imitation Game") who will be playing the titular role of Dr. Stephen Strange. "Doctor Strange" is penned by Thomas Dean Donelly and Joshua Openheimer ("Sahara", "Conan the Barbarian"), and Jon Spaihts ("Prometheus"), with Scott Derickson as the director. Marvel's highly anticipated live-action adaptation is scheduled to hit the big screen in November 4, 2016.
As for McAdams, she is known for her role as Detective Antigone "Anni" Bezzerides in the second season of "True Detective". She also appeared in the award-winning film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' "The Notebook" as well as the action mystery franchise "Sherlock Holmes" alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.
