'Daredevil' Season 2 Casting Update: Marvel Confirms Elodie Yung As The New Elektra

Marvel and Netflix already casted Elodie Yung to play the role of Elektra Natchios for the show "Daredevil." "Daredevil" Season 2 will be featuring the new character who is dubbed to be a mysterious offer.

In a report by Comic Book, "Daredevil" Season 2 will be introducing Elektra as this woman who is from Matt Murdock's past. She is said to be dangerous, exotic, and more than what Murdock can handle. Elodie Yung has been part of "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" and "District 13: Ultimatum."

Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb, said in an interview that after searching worldwide, Elodie Yung was the perfect actress to embody the physicality and the psychological complexity of Elektra. He continued to say, "Paired with Charlie as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for."

In the comics, Elektra and Daredevil also known as Matt Murdock were lovers in the past but in the upcoming season of "Daredevil" will feature the two as close allies, CNN reported. Elektra firs appeared in the 1981 Daredevil no. 168 issue and Jennifer Garner was the first to play the said role back in the 2013 film.

During "Daredevil" Season 1, Matt and his best friend Foggy talked about this Greek girl that the former dated. Elektra is actually the daughter of a Greek diplomat as per information from the comics.

Aside from Elektra, a new character called The Punisher will also be introduced in Daredevil Season 2, The Wall Street Journal reported. The Punisher will be played by Jon Bernthal. The series also stars Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Marco J. Ramirez, and Rosario Dawson.

"Daredevil" Season 2 will be premiering on Netflix by 2016 but no exact date has been announced yet.
