‘True Detective’ Season 2 did not live up to the hype? Spoilers reveal Paul-centric episodes coming up

By

After 'True Detective' season 2 has premiered, the show has received reactions from fans. Now that it already aired 3 episodes, critics are not too convinced with the sophomore season's performance. It is said to fail to live up to the hype. Meanwhile, spoilers reveal that upcoming episodes will focus on Taylor Kitsch's character, Paul Woodrugh.

The HBO anthology series debuted a brand new installment last month. 'True Detective' season 2 first episode introduced us to the four main characters-Ani Bezzerides (Rachel McAdams), Paul Woodrugh (Taylor Kitsch), Frank Seymon (Vince Vaughn) and Ray Velcoro (Colin Farrell).

But viewers' reactions were mixed for the 'True Detective' Season 2 premiere. While many said they were satisfied and hooked, others were disappointed what episode 1 offered. And now that 3 episodes were down, critics seem to agree that the show is hitting a snag.

According to The Seattle Times, 'True Detective' Season 2 is not so hot than the previous one. Everyone is expecting that new cast and story could mean bigger and more successful show. But the current season did not live up to the hype.

The site wrote, "True Detective Season 2 is bad. It's not worth your time."

"Season 2 is just as fake as those pellets, all pretentious ornaments trying desperately to disguise that there is nothing underneath," the site added.

If there is a character in the current season that is believable, it's Ani Bezzerides portrays by Rachel McAdams. "The others are weighed down with heavy loads of psychological torment, ridiculous behavior and bad accents. The side characters are worse."

Meanwhile, the upcoming episodes will feature Kitsch's character, Paul Woodrugh. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Kitsch said the next two episodes will be big for his character.

"Selfishly speaking, I think it's more just Paul. He's unraveling" the actor said when asked about the next two episodes of "True Detective."

"There are a couple scenes where you see him crack and not be able to hold on like he could before. Those are the scenes that just jumped out at me [to show] why he does what he does and acts how he acts.... [You'll see] where he's come from and how suppressed he's been in that house and that relationship with his mother kind of unfolds. Then with the case, it's a slow burn. With Paul, he has bigger beats with his home life and just the repercussions of acting on something within himself. The [weight] he puts on himself is enormous, the strain."
