Warner Bros. and DC has finally released the first full length-trailer for the forthcoming superhero flick "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", showing its iconic supervillain, Lex Luthor in his original long blonde hair. The footage features the traditional "powerless superman before Luthor" scenario which is predicted to be a result of mind control or kryptonite. The upcoming movie is slated to open in cinemas March, next year.
Though the title might obviously say that the upcoming film will be a battle between Batman and Superman, it does not mean that there will be no other character who will attempt to defeat the supers. Played by Jesse Eisenberg, most known for his role as Facebook's CEO Mark Zuckerburg in the film "The Social Network", super villain Lex Luthor is a business magnate who is bent on beating the so-called Man of Steel.
According to Cinema Blend, Eisenberg was rumored to be sporting a shaved head for his portrayal of the antagonist character. However, the 3-minute teaser for the 2016 flick features only the scenes where he still has his long blonde hair. The site notes that in the 1960s, it was established that his character lost his hair as a result of being trapped in a laboratory fire which he blamed the superhero for, despite being saved by him.
Also, the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" trailer features a quick shot of the traditional "Superman finds himself powerless before Lex Luthor" scene which Den of Geeks notes to be a vital part of the new adaptation of Superman's story. Though the reason behind this is yet to be determined, it is predicted that it could be either due to mind control or kryptonite.
It was earlier suggested that Eisenberg's character will be a rich, sociopath maniac who plays with other people's minds just for fun. In the footage, an unnamed senator played by Holly Hunter was seen leading the government's charge against Superman after the events of "Man of Steel". Being known as a serious manipulator, it is predicted that this government official is in Luthor's pockets. Though this theory might make sense, the said scene could also be due to his main weakness, the Kryptonite. In the middle part of the trailer, Luthor is seen intently staring at a large green stone which could possibly be Superman's weakening ore.
Whether its mind control or kryptonite -this can only be confirmed when "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" make its big theatrical release on March 26, 2016.
