While everyone is waiting for Angelina Jolie to confirm if she will reprise her role in Maleficent 2 or not, the actress-director says nobody has formally talked to her about it yet. Brad Pitt also said that his wife has not received any offer from Disney.
Movie News Guide quotes Angelina Jolie as saying that her role as Maleficent did not die and she is still there. She admitted she loved playing the role but could not imagine and still doesn't know if she will do the role again. In fact, the actress has not received any official offer from Disney. Her husband Brad Pitt also said the same.
Aside from Angelina Jolie, the possible return of "Maleficent" production designer Robert Stromberg is still unsure. Crossmap reports that Joe Roth will surely produce the sequel again.
Maleficent raked in $758 million dollars in the box worldwide. Another report from Crossmap says Maleficent was a twist of the story of Sleeping Beauty where the witch Maleficent tells the story about how she became evil and transformed back to a good fairy that she was. Maleficent's story started when she was a little fairy who became the protector of the Moors, an enchanting forest. She befriended a young boy named Stephan and their friendship grew until they became adults.
However, the King of a Kingdom across the Moors wanted to rule even the magical forest. Maleficent uses her power to defend it. The King ordered that whoever will be able to kill Maleficent shall take his place and marry his princess daughter. Stephan becomes greedy and sacrifices his friendship with Maleficent by cutting her wings to show to the King that he has killed her. Maleficent retaliates by cursing Stephan and his daughter Aurora. Aurora shall fall into a deep sleep on her 16th birthday and shall never awake unless kissed by someone who truly loves her. Unexpectedly, Maleficent and Aurora grow fond of each other as the latter spends most of her time at the Moors. It turns out that Maleficent's kiss would awaken Aurora.
