San Diego Comic Con 2015 became the primary source of major spoilers even for 'Gotham' season 2. The cast and crew of the FOX series headed out to SDCC 2015 to answer questions from press. And many fans were not disappointed because lots of spoilers were squeezed out. But everything can be summed up: Season 2 is the rise of the villain.
'Gotham' season 2 is going to be different. That's what the latest spoilers are all hinting. Fans should expect a "bigger, bolder, and more colorful season" when the hit to TV screens, reports Christian Post.
During the series panel at the San Diego Comic-Con last Saturday night (July 11), executive producer Bruno Heller said that Season 1 "was very much about old-school Gotham". And Season 2 will be "the rise of the villains."
TVLine notes that 'Gotham' season 2 will begin to "decline into chaos" as more people begin to feel power inside them and don't feel obligated to use that power morally.
Showrunner Danny Cannon pointed out that Season 2 explores "what Gotham can give birth to when people" - mild-mannered Edward Nygma included? -" start to feel power within themselves and don't feel the urge to answer to morality."
As for 'Gotham' Season 2, new villains can also mean new heroes. Ben McKenzie who plays Detective James Gordon hints that he could use some reinforcements next season.
"As the villains rise, there's an arms race, and the good guys have to increase their force as well," McKenzie teased. "There'll be new heroes introduced."
Meanwhile, 'Gotham' transformation in season 2 will also feature the villainous Joker. Digital Spy reports that Joker's storyline will take center stage. As part of the transition, a larger role for Cameron Monaghan as Jerome will begin to "fully embody" the Joker persona. And fans must expect a twist in the tale.
There will be lots of thrilling episodes to look forward to as 'Gotham' Season 2 returns on air this Sept. 21, at 8 p.m. on Fox.
