'Hotel Transylvania' Gets A TV Series Adaptation; Show Set To Focus On Mavis' Teenage Adventures As Sony Pictures Teams Up With Nelvana

Sony Pictures Animation and Corus Entertainment's Nelvana are bringing the hit animated franchise "Hotel Transylvania" to a smaller screen on 2017. The studios have announced on Tuesday that they are developing the 2012 film into a TV series, focusing on Mavis' adventures during her teenage years.

It may not be as emotional as Pixar flicks or as musical as Disney animated movies, but Sony Pictures' "Hotel Transylvania" has not failed on bringing fun and amusement to its viewers when it first premiered on September 2012. Following the release of its sequel, Drac's pack is now on its way from the big screen to the smaller ones as a television series is slated to be developed.

Corus Entertainment's Nelvana, one of the world's top producers and distributors of children's animated content, has announced on Tuesday that it is working on a new animated TV show based on the box-office topper "Hotel Transylvania". According to Stock House, the upcoming show will focus on the teenage years of Dracula's daughter, Mavis, and her friends in an all-new and exciting adventure.

"We're excited to be entering into a new relationship with Sony Pictures Animation to extend the world of Hotel Transylvania into a new TV series," said Colin Bohm, Vice President, Head of Corus Kids. "The hilarious characters and clever premise of Hotel Transylvania set the stage for endless story possibilities."

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the "Hotel Transylvania" TV series will be executive produced by Rick Mischel of Sony Pictures Animation, along with Nelvana's Colin Bohm and Irene Weibel. While this might sound exciting for the fans of the animated franchise, the said show will not be rolled out to the TV screens until 2017.

In the meantime, the fans can watch the cinematic sequel, "Hotel Transylvania 2", which is due out later this year, on September 25.
