Alien 5 is in the works and will not overlap with Prometheus 2. Actress Sigourney Weaver says she feels like the story from the previous Alien films have not been resolved yet. Meanwhile, Bill Paxton has revealed his interest in joining the cast of the upcoming film.
Fans are now excited and have been eagerly anticipating Niell Blomkamp's Alien 5. Following the events, from Ridley Scott's 1979 film "Alien", and James Cameron's 1986 film "Aliens", the upcoming film will explore new areas in the story, and the extraterrestrial creatures will once again appear in the big screen.
But even though Prometheus 2 which will be produced by Ridley Scott is also on the way, Blomkamp said that he, Nimrod Antal for the movie Predator and Scott talked about the movies to make sure no overlap will happen in their stories.
Although not much details are available for now since the movie is still in its early stages of production, actress Sigourney Weaver has been confirmed to star in the film as Ellen Ripley while Michael Biehn is rumored to star as Cpl. Dwayne Hicks.
Bill Paxton, who played the role of Pvt. Hudson in "Aliens" previously expressed his interest in reprising his role for the upcoming film. "Maybe. I mean, if you're going to bring Hicks back, you've got to have Hudson!" he said when he was told that Hicks might be brought back to life.
Meanwhile, actress Sigourney Weaver revealed, while promoting the video game Alien: Isolation, that she finds the story of the previous Alien films unresolved.
"I definitely feel the story is unresolved, we never really finished it," Weaver said. "That was sort of my responsibility, because I didn't like where the story was going - I'd already tried to kill myself in Alien 3. I didn't like the Alien vs Predator movies, I thought they were demeaning to a wonderful story. Jim Cameron said it was like Alien vs the Wolfman. For many reasons, I didn't want to pursue it, I wanted to do other things." she added.
The actress also hinted that there's a way to finish the story that will make her and the fans happy. "As a former English major, I feel like ... hmmm, I wish we'd finished this story. It feels incomplete to me. I wish it didn't, but it does. We left it hanging. And there's a way to finish this story that I think would be satisfying to me and the many fans." she said.
Alien 5 will hit theaters in 2017 although no exact release date has been announced yet. It will be directed by Neill Blomkamp, and produced by Blomkamp and Ridley Scott. More details about the film are expected to be released in the coming months.
