The trailer shows shots of the characters from before they became DC's iconic villains as well as shots of the squad in action. The beginning of the trailer also shows Viola Davis as Amanda Waller explaining the concept of the suicide squad and why the government has decided to use them. You guys know who you are, and you know what you want, and you're gonna freaking get it with this show, okay?" Ayer added.
He also added that it's time for cinematic universes to try on exploring the dark zone of being villains, "And all this 'good vs. evil' is kind of played out right now," he said. "It's time for bad vs. evil right? Time for a movie about bad guys. And who's got the best bad guys out there? DC Comics. Best villains ever."
The director even went bolder mentioning Marvel along the way, "Now, I'm not trying to start no, you know, east coast/west coast feud with Marvel comics, now. But, hey, someone's gotta say the truth, all right?" Ayer said.
