Last month, it was revealed by voice actor Nolan North that Naughty Dog is now busy with the next installment of "The Last Of Us" during MetroCon held in Florida. Nolan accidentally confirmed a second release when he was asked regarding his current projects with Naughty Dog. The developers originally thought that the "Last of Us" would be a disaster project but it turned out to be a great one.
Nolan North, the voice actor who gave life to David the antagonist in "The Last Of Us," accidentally told the audience about "The Last Of Us 2" being under development. North was asked about his current projects with Naughty Dog according to a previous report by Wired. "For now I know they're doing "Last of Us 2," but my character in Last of Us kind of met an untimely demise." Someone from the audience then complained regarding the spoiler.
Troy Baker, the voice actor of Joel, said he knew nothing of a sequel according to Polygon. He said that he did not know if they were doing another "The Last Of Us" but if they are, then he trusts Neil Druckmann the creative director, Bruce Straley the game director, and everyone at Naughty Dog to "tell a story that needs to be told".
Everyone at Naughty Dog thought that "The Last Of Us" would be a failure according to an interview featured on VG247. Gameplay director Bruce Straley said: "We thought it was going to tank" when asked about the studio's feeling during development. They were joking around then saying that "The Last Of Us" would bring the downfall of Naughty Dog. The developers had a hard time with the game mechanics not fitting together and according to lead designer Anthony Newman: "It was really a a set of really lucky breaks in terms of gameplay decisions we made that really made everything fall into place and turned it into a fun game".
"The Last Of Us 2" is an upcoming action-survival horror game developed by Naughty Dog for the PS3. No announcement has been made yet regarding its release date.
