Pokemon fans and arcade game lovers are having fun right now, given that the game "Pokken Tournament' is already available in Japan. And while gamers are enjoying the Pokken fighting game, producer Katsuhiro Harada clarified that the "Pokken Tournament" is not Tekken with Pokemon skins.
In an interview with Weekly Famitsu, Harada wanted to dispel notions that "Pokken Tournament" is more than a Tekken fighting game, Kotaku reported. And whilst people may immediately think the game will fit hard core fighting game players because of its name "Pokken" or because the team also worked on Tekken or Soul Caliber, Harada clarified that this is incorrect. The producer explained that while it is a "solid versus game," it is an action game meant for Pokemon fans.
The team behind "Pokken Tournament" reportedly developed the game with Pokemon fans in mind. Harada said that part of the development process was tweaking the UI which includes changing the camera's side angle view and removing the usual placement of the stamina bars at the top of the screen. The developer explained that those were traditional fighting game elements that they intentionally changed to remove Pokemon fans' impression that "the game is harder that it is."
Meanwhile, Pokemon fans will be surely be happy to see their favorite characters in the arcade game "Pokken Tournament." Some of the characters includes Machamp, Lucario, Gardevoir, Gengar, Charizard, Suicune, and Pikachu. The newest Pokemon set to join the roster of characters is Blaziken. According to Gematsu, the fighting/fire-type pokemon will be added in August via a version patch scheduled for next month.
While the game was already released in Japan, the team is reportedly considering a Western release for "Pokken Tournament" but the nothing has been confirmed, stated Geek Snack. There are also no news whether a console version will be developed for the game.
"Pokken Tournament" is the latest arcade fighting game from Bandai Namco Entertainment and The Pokemon Company. The game was released in Japan on July 16, 2015.
