Funimation has recently released the official English-subbed trailer for the live-action adaptation of "Attack on Titan Part 1", hinting that the titans are not the only enemies. The Japanese premiere of the first of the two-part films based on Hajime Isamaya's manga and anime series is set on August 1.
Following Funimation's acquisition of the live-action movie's exclusive rights, the studio has finally released the first English-subtitled, full-length trailer for the "Attack on Titan Part 1". Much like the synopsis previously reported, the 3-minute clip opens with the main characters, Eren, Armin and Mikasa, enjoying their lives behind the massive wall, until a never-before-seen colossal Titan breaches it. From there, the three collaborates with their nation's armed forces to protect the citizens from a horde of giant, man-eating monsters.
Tech Time notes that the video does not only features questions of how the people will defend their city, but also hints the mystery whether there is a greater, more sinister threat lurking behind the horrifying attacks. "Attack on Titan Part 1" is based on the world and characters of Hajime Isamaya's hit manga and anime series of the same name, which was first introduced on 2009. It will compile the first 13 episodes of the TV anime's first season.
According to Anime News Network, the upcoming movie adaptation will star Haruma Miura as Eren, Kiko Mizuhara as Mikasa, Kanata Hongo as Armin, Satomi Ishihara as Hans/Hanji, Nanami Sakuraba as Sasha, Takahiro Miura as Jean, Hiroki Hasegawa as Shikishima, Ayame Misaki as Hiana, Pierre Taki as Souda, Jun Kunimura as Kubal, Jun Kunimura as Kubal, Satoru Matsuo as Sannagi and Rina Takeda as Lil. Yuusuke Watanabe ("Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods", live-action "Gantz", "Gantz II: Perfect Answer", "20th Century Boys", "Gatchaman") wrote the script of the film, alongside creator Isamaya and film critic Tomohiro Machiyama.
"Attack on Titan Part 1" will open in Japan on August 1, following its July 14 world premiere. The second part of the compilation films, "Attack on Titan: End of the World", will open on September 19.
