Spoilers for the upcoming Supergirl TV series have since circulated the internet after the cast and crew of the show held a panel during the 2015 San Diego Comic Con earlier this month. The spoilers reveal a possible love triangle riff to occur once Lucy Lane is introduced in the series.
Design&Trend has reported that Lucy Lane, the younger sister of Lois Lane, will make an appearance on the third episode of the series. As it has been established in the pilot that was released at Comic Con, the show's main lead Kara Zor-El (played by Melissa Benoist) seems to be harboring a crush for her co-worker James Olsen (played by Mehcad Brooks). Interestingly, Lucy will then be introduced as a foil to Kara and Jimmy's romance in the series as her character will be shown as Jimmy's ex-girlfriend.
Adding to the potential riff between Kara and Lucy in the Supergirl series is the fact that Lucy Lane might just become her actual archenemy. Enstarz has revealed that if the series' writers and producers decide to go with the original comic book plotline, Lucy would eventually become Superwoman, making her a competition for Kara.
Lucy Lane as Superwoman, according to Screen Rant, has become one of Lucy's most significant roles in the DC Comics continuity. After making her comic book debut way back in 1959, Lucy's character has certainly gone through a lot. From working as an airlines stewardess to almost dying while working in the military, Lucy then transforms into Superwoman after donning her suit in order to escape death. The suit has since then given Lucy all the abilities of Superman plus protecting her from the ultimate weakness of Kryptonians-kryptonite.
Fans of Supergirl and Superwoman can certainly expect great things from the series as Cinema Blend revealed how Lucy Lane's storyline could go both ways-be an immediate antagonist to Supergirl or be one of the good guys at the beginning and later on turn evil towards the end.
Despite the excitement amidst the introduction of Lucy Lane in the series, no one has actually been cast for the role yet. Fans can only wait which actress will be playing Kara Zor-El's possible foe as Supergirl is set to premiere on October 26 on CBS.
