'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' is an upcoming live-action adaptation trilogy of a book of the same name published under a fictitious author named Newt Scamander. Its real author is J.K. Rowling from the famous 'Harry Potter' book series.
Rowling herself will take on the role as screenwriter for the fantasy and adventure film and recently dropped more details on the upcoming film. Also recently, open auditions for casting were held with thousands of fans clamoring to get a chance to be part of the big screen ensemble.
The novel the movie is based from was intended as a spin-off from her original series. It is set in New York in the 1920s - almost 70 years before young wizard Harry Potter's time. Several major character roles have been filled including the most recent casting of Dan Fogler to portray Jacob.
According to Ad Week's Galley Cat, Rowling took to Twitter to answer several random questions posed by curious fans. It is revealed that there will be a character in the film covered in scars, Scamander belonged to Hufflepuff, Luna Lovegood's birthday is on February 13, and that Grima Wormtail's entry to Gryffindor was because "he travelled further and further from who he could have been."
According to Metro, around 20,000 young girls turned up for the open auditions for 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' held last July 11, 2015 at Excel Centre in East London for the role of Modesty. Modesty is described as a 'haunted young girl with an inner strength and stillness' and Warner Bros. indicated that they were specifically looking for a girl between the ages 8-12 years old. Whoever will land the role will begin filming scenes with the cast and crew next month.
In another report by Gulf News, some of the hopefuls even lined up as early as 3 o'clock in the morning. Many of them also came from far distances just to audition. The doors were eventually opened at 9 o'clock in the morning.
Its current cast lineup includes Eddie Redmayne of 'Theory of Everything' in the main role of 'magizoologist' Newst Scamander. He will star alongside Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, and Dan Fogler. The story centers on Scamander as he travels and documents several magical creatures in the Wizarding World. He eventually authors a textbook that will later be studied in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' is scheduled to be released on November 18, 2016 under the direction of David Yates who also directed the final four films in the 'Harry Potter' series.
