The Last of Us soundtrack has been considered as one of the best videogame soundtrack of all time.
Published by Mondo, the Last of Us Official Soundtrack was composed by award-winning Gustavo Santaolalla. He is famous for the official soundtracks of Brokeback Mountain and Babel and had won numerous accolades since 2013. Eurogamer reports that Fact Magazine hailed it as the Third Best videogame soundtrack of all time, next to Chrono Trigger and Ico. The four-disk vinyl soundtrack will be featuring all the music featured in the Last of Us and Left Behind, its DLC expansion.
Considered by Game Informer to be the one of the most dramatically portrayed video game in the contemporary consoles, Last of Us revolves around the story of two people struggling their way to survival in an infected world. For them, despite a game's remarkable storyline and impressive gameplay, having a striking soundtrack is very crucial to hit the right spot of a gamer's "feels". It immerses the player into the game and enables each moment to leave an astonishing impact to oneself.
The album cover features the work of artists Olly Moss and Jay Shaw, depicting two different hands clasped together, seemingly signifying the differences between the characters who eventually stick with each other to survive. IGN reports that the 180-gram, four-disk vinyl album is limited in quantity with the sale having no definite start time and suggests those interested to follow Mondo on Twitter and check its site from time to time. Last of Us became IGN's top game of 2013, garnering a 10 out of 10 rating for the Play Station 3. At the moment, it is rumoured that voice actor Nolan North hinted a development of an official sequel.
Last of Us Official Soundtrack in four-disk vinyl will be available on July 22, 2015 with no official release time for $75 or about 48 Euros.
