Square Enix has released the first in-game screenshots from the new "Dragon Quest Builders," depicting a Minecraft-like RPG. The Alefgard-set, monster-battling smashing game will be released this winter in Japan.

Earlier this month, Square Enix announced the release of the newest installment from the "Dragon Quest" series. According to IGN, "Dragon Quest XI" will be an offline game for home console and shall "return to the roots of 'Dragon Quest.'" Following the said announcement, the company has released the "Dragon Quest Builders'" first ever in-game screenshots for the fans to enjoy. Although nothing much is known about the upcoming game, the released sneak peek photos give avid gamers what to expect and be hyped about. The teaser graphics featured the game's main character, monsters and the virtual setting in Alefgard.

In general, "Dragon Quest Builders" resembles Minecraft that fits well with the rest of the "Dragon Quest" games, reported Forbes. Its main character, however, looks like those from Dragon Quest VIII while others claim it to resemble Link from "The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap."

Furthermore, the screenshots feature some of the game's mechanics, wherein the lead character uses the hammer to mine for materials and freebies, such as rock, wood, fruit, plant-life, slime and ooze, stated Polygon. These collectibles will help the player to rebuild Alefgard and protect the kingdom from ferocious beasts. Players can also build their own bases and attack a slew of monsters in the field of a smashing terrain. These monsters includes slimes, golems, shadows and dragons.

"Dragon Quest Builders" is exclusively available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. "Dragon Quest XI" is currently scheduled for launch this winter in Japan. The game's official worldwide release date is yet to be announced soon.

The rest of the "Dragon Quest" games will soon be available to the PlayStation platforms.
