‘Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes’ Sub-Mission Contains Message From Kojima, Easter Egg Referencing Kojima Leaving Konami

By

A "Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes" gameplay video posted online claimed that Kojima may have predicted his departure from Konami. In a sub mission, the "Metal Gear" creator reportedly left a message to his fans and hinted of the impending split.

An interesting video from YouTuber Timesplitter88 suggests that Kojima may have predicted the fall out at least a year in advance. The video showed the playstation exclusive Deja Vu mission in "Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes," wherein players will take control of "Snake," a "Metal Gear Solid" character, to recreate iconic scenes from the playstation title. However, a sub-mission required players to find and remove all the "Metal Gear" titles and logos that Kojima developed over the years.

Whenever Kaz finds Kojima related items, these images simply vanished from the game. Gamespot mentioned that this was a "haunting prediction of recent events," wherein Konami removed logos of Kojima Production from the official artwork of "Metal Gear" titles.

Funnily enough, when Kaz locates a material or logo that was not created by Kojima, the character will reportedly dismiss the item and say: "Looks like that's nothing special," reported Eurogamer. Once the players find most of the Kojima related logos, Kaz drops a line that seemed to convey a message from the creator himself: "You might be able to erase the marking, but the memories will never disappear."

And as soon as all the logos and markings have been removed, another message is conveyed: "You erased all the markings, but everyone of them will always be with you." The site Movie Pilot also took note of the voice that spoke the final sub-mission message, a voice that reportedly is not Zak. The voice said: "You seem to be a fan of Hideo Kojima games... Thank you for all your support."

Regardless whether this conspiracy theory is true or not, it still touched countless "Metal Gear" fans.

"Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes" is currently available for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Meanwhile, the latest instalment to the game "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" is slated for a September 1 release on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. The PC version will be out by September 15.
