'Five Nights At Freddy's' Movie is a top-selling horror video game released back in 2014 and has gained a massive fan following since then. It is a point-and-click survival game created by developer Scott Cawthon known for its simplistic design but overall disturbing gaming experience owing to subtle scare tactics tapping into the familiar primitive fear of the unknown as well as paranoia. Hollywood has recently picked up the rights to turn the game into a full movie and has confirmed production. A particularly notable short film on the series also made rounds online.
The games may be ending, but this could signal the beginning of production for the movie adaptation. According to Digital Spy, 'Five Nights at Freddy's 4' will be the latest and final chapter in the game franchise.
The good news is the game's film rights were picked up by Warner Bros. last April of this year and will be produced by Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment. Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg of KatzSmith Productions have also jumped on board to produce the movie with the involvement of Cawthon in the creative process.
FNAF 4 recently dropped last July 24, 2015 according to Kotaku. Instead of the usual office setting, gamers are treated to a creepy scene in a child's bedroom. Its appeal may be conceived from everyone's relatable childhood nightmare of being alone in the dark, with the possibility of monstrous things hiding within.
In comparison to the final installment in the series, the first and second games are set in a pizzeria with the player taking on the role of night watch security guard. The goal is simple - survive until morning against a band of murderous animatronics. The third game takes place in an amusement park, another different yet equally disturbing setting.
Besides being a hit with gamers, FNAF also has quite a number of fans on YouTube with players recording their Five Nights At Freddy's gameplay and posting them online while others are creating shorts and mini movies. In a report by Cinema Blend, outlets Typhoon Cinema and Deviant Picture Films collaborated on one particular scary film adaptation.
It is said to focus on one of the killer characters in the third game called Springtap. Viewers called out that the terrifying short film should be what the upcoming adaptation should be like although it's unlikely.
'Five Nights At Freddy's' Movie does not have a confirmed release date nor plot line as of yet. It remains to be known how the upcoming movie's creative crew would weave a proper story out of the video game series. It is known though that each of the games is tied together in one specific story involving cuddly yet homicidal robotic creatures.
