The Batman News: Ben Affleck to star, direct upcoming standalone film? Red Hood to be the dark knight's nemesis ?

DC Cinematic Universe might witness more of Ben Affleck as The Batman as a standalone film of the caped hero is rumored to happen. Aside from starring in the movie, Affleck is also rumored to direct the movie, while Jason Todd's Red Hood might also appear in the movie as the enemy.

Rumors are persistent that DC fans will be witnessing more of Batman in the big screen aside from his already set appearances in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and the Justice League Parts I and II. The upcoming film is said to be titled "The Batman", and is rumored to be directed by Affleck. The actor is also said to work on the movie with DC Comics' chief creative officer, Geoff Johns.

Production for the movie is reported to start after Affleck's movie adaptation of Denis Lehane's crime novel, "Live by Night". Affleck previously pushed back the production for the movie to play the role of Batman for the upcoming Batman v Superman movie.

Although the project has not been officially confirmed yet, Techtimes reported that actor Jason Todd's Red Hood might come out as the movie's villain. Basing from the Batman v Superman trailer, Robin's burned costume can be seen with the words, "Ha Ha Ha, Joke's On You Batman." In the comics, Robin was killed by Joker by beating him. This Robin said to have died and was later brought back to life as Red Hood.

Also in the trailer, Bruce Wayne was seen receiving a letter where it said, "You Let Your Family Die." This letter could have reportedly been sent by Red Hood since his previous identity, Robin, was considered as family by Bruce Wayne. This, however, are still speculations as of now.

The upcoming The Batman movie is rumored to be released in 2018.
