The Danny Boyle-directed biopic of Apple's co-founder," Steve Jobs", is set to take the Centerpiece screening in the upcoming New York Film Festival. Michael Fassbender set to play the role of the tech genius.
It has been recently revealed that the Steve Jobs biopic will take the Centerpiece screening in NYFF which will happen on September 25 to October 11. The movie is set to be shown on October 3 according to the New York Times.
"You hear that a bio of Steve Jobs is being produced, and of course you see multiple possible movies in your head . . . but not this one. Steve Jobs is dramatically concentrated, yet beautifully expansive; it's extremely sharp; it's wildly entertaining, and the actors just soar - you can feel their joy as they bite into their material," New York Film Festival director, and selection committee chair, Kent Jones said.
Entertainment Weekly reported that Boyle is honored of the film's selection. He also said that he is thrilled and terrified as well. The Director said that "I am honored that our film has been selected as the Centerpiece of this year's festival."
"And thrilled and terrified too, unlike the subject of our film, who would have taken the whole thing very much in his stride. Steve Jobs was a thoroughly contradictory and complex character who forged our digital age. He's the kind of brilliant, flawed character that Shakespeare would have relished writing about, and storytellers of all kinds will be fashioning and re-fashioning the mythology of the digital revolution for generations to come. I hope that festivalgoers enjoy our take." He added.
The Aaron Sorkin written biopic is said to feature the life of the technology genius and apple founder according to The Wrap. The film will show the three different phases of Steve Job's life, from the first launch of Macintosh, NeXT workstation, and the iMac.
"Steve Jobs" cast includes Charlie Hunnam for the titular role with Kate Winslet as Joanna Hoffman, Jeff Daniels as John Sculley, Michael Stuhlbarg as Andy Hertzfeld, and Katherine Waterston as Chrisann Brennan among many others. It is set to hit theaters in October 9, 2015.
