Singer Azealia Banks has once again started a rift on Twitter as she posted how "terrible, violent and belligerent" Australian crowds are. Banks made this statement in relation to her recent concert in Byron Bay at New South Wales as well as her previous concerts in the said continent.
Paul Brown, a radio broadcaster from Brisbane, Australia tweeted to Azealia Banks congratulating her for finishing her First Ever Full Australian Concert referring to the Splendour in the Grass show last weekend. Brown missed the concert.
Azealia Banks replied the following post:
"@brownypaul @SITG because in all actuality. You guys are terrible crowds to play for. You're violent and belligerent and I simply... will not put my safety at risk. I would've walked off stage had someone thrown something."
While many condemned her post, there were some who lauded her.
The Guardian reports the tweets of both Brown and Banks were in relation to incidents that occurred previously in Australia. Azealia walked out at the Listen Out Festivals in Melbourne and Sydney in 2013 when concertgoers threw cans onstage. Despite what happened, Banks still carried out the show last weekend and in fact was praised for being happy with the audience while performing, something that critics find new. Banks also performed in Sydney and Melbourne after the said concert.
In a separate tweet, she addressed her Australians fans saying that the show guarantees they are not worth the long trip. However, she said she will do anything for her beloved fans to be happy.
This is not the first time that Azealia Banks, an African American, has gotten into a word war on Twitter. She also got into a rift with Australian Iggy Azalea, reports NZ Herald. Banks accused Azalea of racial discrimination.
Aside from Azalea, Banks, known for her blunt ways even on some of her songs' lyrics, also had a rift with Nicki Minaj on Twitter.
