‘Wonder Woman’ Updates: Chris Pine to Star Opposite Gal Gadot in Upcoming Film as Wonder Woman’s Love Interest Steve Trevor

By

Actor Chris Pine has signed on to join the cast of the upcoming 'Wonder Woman' movie starring Gal Gadot in the title role. He is slated to play Wonder Woman's love interest and main man Steve Trevor.

Rumors of Pine playing Green Lantern are finally put to rest after it was reported that the Hollywood hunk sealed the deal with Warner Bros. According to The Wrap, Pine had joined the DC shared universe as Steve Trevor, the primary love interest of Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman. He signed in the multi-pictured deal, sealing several sequel options.

In the classic version in the DC comic books, he was a military man whose plane crashed on Paradise Island where the Amazons thrived. He was eventually nursed back to health by Prince who left the island with him. He fought alongside Wonder Woman's battles and was also constantly getting kidnapped - needing to get rescued by the superheroine a couple of times. Succeeding versions portray Trevor as a totally different character. It's not certain which angle the creative teams would put in for Pine but his love story with Wonder Woman promises tons of action and suspense.

According to Screen Rant, Pine was rumored to play the part in the 'Green Lantern' reboot possibly debuting on June 19, 2020. Even before Ryan Reynolds landed the part of Hal Jordan, he was the studio's first pick. As far as the latter is concerned, Warner Bros. announced in the recent San Diego Comic Con that they will be featuring multiple leads for the upcoming 'Green Lantern Corps' franchise. The DC deal of possible sequels and multiple pictures seemed to be the better one for Pine anyway.

In another article by E! Online, the reveal came after director Michelle MacLaren was announced that she won't be continuing with the superheroine film due to creative differences with Warner Bros. Patty Jenkins, the genius behind 'Monster' has taken over as director.

The upcoming film, the fourth in the DC extended universe, will star Israeli beauty Gal Gadot and will center on Diana Prince's adventures as Wonder Woman. It is currently in early stages of development. It will be released on June 23, 2017.
