'Avengers: Infinity War' is the first Marvel Studio film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) that will be split into two parts. Despite this, both parts of the upcoming film will be filmed simultaneously. Speculations are flying around about the return of Quicksilver on the big screen despite passing away in the last 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'.
Quicksilver perished in a heroic death in the preceding movie after he saved Hawkeye from a rain of fatal bullets. Now a new rumor has come up regarding the resurrection of the hero with superhuman speed. According to Franchise Herald, Quicksilver will be brought back through a potion called the Terrigen Mist. This is a fictional substance that is said to alter Inhuman biology - mutate creatures that come in contact with it, giving them superhuman abilities.
In a report by Cinema Blend, Aaron Taylor-Johnson talked about another version of the script in which his character Quicksilver would live. He said point blank, "It's [the] Marvel universe. It was very much our intention to kind of go the way we did. There was a costume designed for whether... if I didn't [die]...
I'm not sure if I really can really go down that realm, but you know, yeah, it was definitely an alternative, that I think they had to play with. But, it was very much set from the very beginning, and Joss had in mind to tell the story that he told... and I was very game for that, as well, because I think it really gives [the movie] sort of an emotional twist to it. A surprise." Perhaps the unfortunate hero would join the group of formerly killed off characters who reappeared in the next consecutive movies such as Groot and Loki.
In another report by Empire, director Joss Whedon revealed the reasoning behind Quicksilver's untimely demise. He said, "I think, ultimately, of Seven Samurai. The old guys make it through; it's the young guys that tend to miss the mark. I also wasn't going to kill the only other woman in the series!"
He went on to explain that 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' was a war movie that finally had characters proving their bravery saying, "Hawkeye genuinely hates this guy, and that's the guy who saves him. I knew it would be resonant, and make everything else work better and matter more.... maybe I'll let you know about that later. But the intent was to earn this, and then you have to stand by it." Whedon also admitted that he had a reputation of bringing characters he killed off back to life.
'Avengers: Infinity War' Part 1 will be released in theaters on May 4, 2018. Part 2 will follow on May 3, 2019. The Avengers are a group of superhuman defenders created to protect the world from evil. The first superhero team-up film debuted last 2012 and included Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, and Hawkeye among others.
