Ridley Scott's latest sci-fi film, The Martian, will soon hit theaters this October 2015. The film will be featured first in the 40th Toronto Film Festival. New images have also been released for the movie and it is currently the cover of Total Film Magazine's latest issue.
The Martian will be one of the films that have been chosen to be screened in the 40th Toronto International Film Festival on September 10 to 20. Vulture reports that the other films to be screened in the event also includes Roland Emmerich's "Stonewall", Julianne Moore's "Freeheld", Gavin Hood's "Eye in the Sky", Michael Moore's documentary "Where to Invade Next", and Bryan Cranston's "Trumbo" among many others. According to Entertainment Weekly, the Jean-Marc Valle directed film, Demolition, will be featured in the event as the opening-night film.
Games Radar reports that aside from the Toronto International Film Festival, fans may also get a sneak peek of the movie from Total Film Magazine's latest issue where photos from the set are featured. Two photos have also been released. One being a photo of Damon's character, Mark Watney in the Mars sunrise, and the other being a photo of Watney and his colleagues during the dust storm. Also, Ridley Scott's artwork photos of Watney are also featured in the issue.
The Martian will center on Watney and how he tries to send an SOS message to Earth after he was left alone in Mars and survive the four years that will take for his crew to complete the seemingly impossible rescue mission.
The Martian is based from the bestselling book Andy Weir. Its cast also includes Jessica Chastain, Michael Pena, Sean Bean, Sebastian Stan, Kristen Wiig, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Mackenzie Davis, and screenplay by Drew Goddard. It is set to hit theaters in October 2, 2015.
