Chris Hemsworth diet this time is something different. Instead of packing on weight, Hemsworth shared how he squeezed his diet by just eating 500 calories a day for his role in the upcoming disaster flick, "In the Heart of the Sea."

Portraying the role of a shipwrecked veteran sailor Owen Chase, the reigning "Sexiest Man Alive," dropped down significant weight to fit for his role in the ship shipping disaster film. Chris Hemsworth diet includes only one-quarter of his regular plate to help him trim down drastically.

"We have to shoot the really skinny stuff where we drop down to 5, 6, 700 calories a day, a good three or four weeks and it's going to be pretty uncomfortable, but we'll be together in our misery," Hemsworth told Entertainment Tonight.

Chris Hemsworth diet in his starring movie, "Thor" in 2010 was exactly the opposite of his new diet for "In the Heart of the Sea." Playing as "Thor," he needs to power up and increase weight of up to 20 pounds to be credible for his role.

Keri Gans, a certified nutritionist-dietitian and author of "The Small Change Diet" told New York Daily News that she was surprised that Hemsworth was able to cope with his drastic diet. Gans explained Chris Hemsworth diet is not advisable as this type of food pattern could lead to dehydration.

The certified N-D also claimed that she's surprised that Hemsworth was able to deliver his lines and portray his role with no problems. Gans said that the "Thor" actor could become irritable because he's starving himself. Ideally, the FDA advises about 2,400 calories for Hemsworth's age based on his height and weight.

As Chris Hemsworth diet raises concern for the health of the actor, another Aussie, Hugh Jackman once shared that he was afraid of his health every time he plays his epic role as "Wolverine." Jackman feared that packing on 6,000 calories daily by eating bunches of chickens and eggs could lead to his heart attack, Edmontonsun.com reports.

What can you say about Chris Hemsworth diet? Do you think it is just right for him to play for his role as Owen Chase? "In the Heart of the Sea" is about the struggle of survivors when whales attacked a New England ship in 1820. The upcoming action-adventure film directed by Ron Howard is expected to hit the theaters on Dec. 11.
