American actress Kelly Rutherford is popularly known for the different daytime soap opera television roles she has played since she first started acting 1987.
In a report from zimbo.com, Rutherford has been married and divorced twice. Her first marriage only lasted 6 months after her and ex husband Carlos Tarajano divorced in January 2002, 6 months after they were married in June 2001.
In August 2006, Rutherford married for the second time to a German businessman known as Daniel Giersch. It was with Giersch that Rutherford had her first child Hermes who was born the same year. However come 2008 Rutherford had filed for a divorce and discovered that she was also pregnant with their second child Helena. The divorce took two years to finish as there was a lengthy custody battle.
But after the two divorces, it still wasn't the end of constant legal battles for Rutherford. According to people, though Rutherford shares custody of her two children Hermes who is now 8 and Helena who is now 6, she still has one major problem, they are oceans apart.
It's been a constant 6 year battle for Rutherford to get her two children over to America as her ex husband won't allow them to make the move. According to an interview the actress had with PEOPLE, she said that her children's father will not permit then to step on American soil, and that this was something they had been fighting about even before their second child was born.
Earlier this week Rutherford was denied of her request to have her kids stay with her here in America, a federal court believed that it would be best for the family to stick with the original agreement which was first granted back in 2012. It was a California family court judge that originally ruled for her children to reside with the father back in Germany as his working visa had been revoked.
Dailymail reported that Rutherford has referred to the case as 'legal kidnapping' as the kids have only been permitted to spend summer holidays with her in America. The Californian court said that they do not have jurisdiction over the case as Rutherford and her children do not live in the state.
In 2013, Kelly Rutherford filed for bankruptcy as she claims she has spent more than $1.5 million on legal fees fighting to have her children back. However, the actress does not plan on giving up on the case and will continue to fight her rights and win custody battle for her children.
