Radiohead will possibly be doing the theme song for the coming Bond movie, "Spectre". A "Bond" theme betting was suspended after punter tries to put £15,000 on Radiohead.
The English band featuring Thom Yorke has emerged as the favorite to perform the theme of "Spectre". The bookmaker William Hill has been accepting bets on which artist or band will write the new theme song to the upcoming Sam Mendes' James Bond film "Spectre," but one enormous wager has thrown the entire pool off. A customer in Middlesex tried to put a £15,000 bet on Radiohead having recorded the song which made Hills suspend betting on the identity of the next Bond theme singer on Tuesday.
Rumors originally suggested that Sam Smith was down to record the theme for Bond's 24th silver screen outing, but those were quashed after he denied involvement. Next there was the very credible idea that Ellie Goulding might do it - the rumor mill went into overdrive after she tweeted the title of the 1973's "Live and Let Die" followed by an Instagram photo of her leaving Abbey Road Studios where Adele also recorded the award-winning "Skyfall" from the last Bond movie. She captioned the post, "that's a wrap".
William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams told NME: "The first gamble of the day was Ellie Goulding and punters were backing her as if she already had the gig, but just as we were thinking of pulling the plug we had a load of bets for Radiohead, including one customer who asked to place a £15,000 bet on the band at 10/1. There seem to be all kinds of rumors and the plot has had more twists and turns than a classic Bond tale, but surely nobody risks £15,000 on a hunch."
In a recent interview with BBC, film director Sam Mendes said that the song is finished but never disclosed who did: "I can say that the song's been recorded and it's fantastic and I'm very excited about it," he said. "You won't have to wait long." Mendes and Daniel Craig are both reported to be big Radiohead fans.
Mendes also revealed that he does not want to make any more 007 films after the next installment, which comes out in October. The plot involves a cryptic message from Bond's past that sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization.
