'Wayward Pines' season 2 is a TV series that's worthy to be renewed. Aside from the fact that it had attracted many viewers, the next season has more to offer. One of the possible storyline for season 2 might be about Ben Burkes' revolution from the First Generation's operation, following his father's legacy, who died during the finale.
The show may have started with not so much attraction, but it progressed and 'Wayward' Season 1 ended terrific. In the previous season, Ethan Burke, David Pilcher and Ms. Fisher all died. Ethan's son, Ben Burke suffered a head injury and awoke three years later to learn that the "First Generation" of Academy students placed the adults in suspension and now control Wayward Pines, Latin Post recapped.
According to Variety, the 'Wayward Pines' season finale has garnered 3.9 million viewers. The show was the highest rated scripted television program this summer for adults between the ages of 18 and 49.
If that is the case, then, 'Wayward Pines' season 2 renewal is worthy to be pushed through. Aside from this, season 1 finale had obviously left a huge cliffhanger. Thus it will be very exciting to see how Ben Burke steps up after his father died.
International Business Times notes that the younger Burke could be the hero in season 2. But it's still unsure if he follows his father's steps or he could have his own plans of revolution for the same old systems that the town has.
Another possible storyline for 'Wayward Pines' Season 2 would concentrate on Hassler's character, though no such announcement has been made.
What's even more interesting is that the executive producer M. Night Shyamalan revealed to Deadline that there are talks of what they could do in case Fox TV brings them on board for season 2. He said that "Blake and I do have an idea."
